On Saturday I drove from Seattle to Spokane. I’m glad I don’t deal with city traffic very often, to say the least. Once I got away from Seattle I got to enjoy the mountains of western Washington, which I had never before seen. I took a nice little hike to Weeks Falls, above. It was very pretty, and in early summer with snowmelt it must be awesome.

Once you get east of Snoqualmie Pass the landscape turns to dry rolling hills. The signs discourage hiking. I made it to Spokane, had a fair dinner downtown, and tomorrow I’ll be ready to start my ride.

The trip I’m taking is a weeklong ride mostly in the Selkirk Range in southern British Columbia. It promises to be challenging and beautiful. Adding to the challenge, unfortunately, is the fact that on Tuesday, September 9, I injured my left wrist (successfully) deflecting a shot over the goal in a soccer game. On Thursday I couldn’t even get on my bike because of the pain bearing weight on my wrist. Today I was able to take a few turns around the parking lot while wearing a brace, so I’m hoping for the best.
